Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA): The Test That Changed How I Understand Health

Why I believe one simple hair test can reveal far more than nutritional deficiencies alone.

If you've ever been told...

"Everything looks normal."

...while knowing deep down that your body doesn't feel normal...

this may be one of the most important things you ever read.

Because symptoms rarely appear without a reason.

Fatigue.

Hormonal changes.

Anxiety.

Digestive problems.

Brain fog.

Poor stress tolerance.

Inflammation.

Weight that no longer responds.

Feeling like your body simply isn't the same anymore.

These are not random events.

They are adaptations.

The question isn't simply:

"What's wrong with my body?"

It's...

"What has my body been adapting to?"

That single question changed my entire career.

My Journey With Functional Testing

Like many practitioners, I was originally trained to investigate symptoms using functional pathology.

Blood tests.

Gut testing.

Hormone testing.

Food sensitivity testing.

And while these investigations absolutely have their place...

I kept noticing something.

Many clients had spent thousands of dollars on testing.

They understood what was happening.

Yet they still weren't getting better.

Not because they lacked information.

But because no one had helped them understand the bigger picture.

Health isn't built from isolated organs.

It's built from an interconnected ecosystem.

The nervous system.

Minerals.

Metabolism.

Hormones.

Digestion.

Trauma.

Stress physiology.

Sleep.

Relationships.

Beliefs.

Behaviour.

Everything influences everything else.

That's when Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis became one of the cornerstone tools in my practice.

HTMA Isn't Just About Minerals

Many people think HTMA simply tells you whether you're low in magnesium or zinc.

It does far more than that.

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis provides a three-month snapshot of how your body has been managing its mineral resources and adapting to stress.

It allows me to look beneath symptoms and identify patterns that may be influencing:

• energy production

• stress resilience

• metabolic function

• thyroid support

• hormone balance

• blood sugar regulation

• detoxification capacity

• inflammatory patterns

• nervous system regulation

• toxic element burden.

But what fascinates me most...

is that these same mineral patterns often mirror what is happening psychologically.

The Missing Piece Most People Never Hear About

Over the last fifteen years, I've immersed myself in studying:

• biochemistry

• mineral balancing

• metabolic physiology

• psychoneuroimmunology

• nervous system regulation

• trauma-informed care

• subconscious patterning.

And one thing became impossible to ignore.

Our physiology and psychology constantly influence one another.

Everything is bidirectional.

Chronic stress influences mineral balance.

Mineral imbalance influences stress resilience.

Trauma changes physiology.

Physiology influences emotional capacity.

One cannot be separated from the other.

This is why I no longer look at HTMA simply as a nutritional test.

I see it as a map of adaptation.

Your Hair Holds Clues Your Blood Sometimes Doesn't

Hair reflects what has been happening inside your tissues over approximately three months, offering a longer-term picture of mineral patterns rather than a single moment in time.

When interpreted properly, HTMA allows me to assess important mineral relationships including those associated with:

• metabolic pace

• vitality and stress resilience

• thyroid support

• adrenal regulation

• blood sugar regulation

• hormone balance.

I rarely focus on one mineral alone.

I'm interested in the relationships between minerals.

Because those relationships often tell a much richer story than an isolated deficiency.

The Body Is Always Adapting

One of my favourite ways to explain HTMA is through an analogy.

Imagine your cells are like a car park.

Every parking space is designed for essential minerals like magnesium, zinc and calcium.

When those spaces are occupied...

toxic metals have nowhere to stay.

But when mineral stores become depleted...

vacancies appear.

Heavy metals don't necessarily attack the body.

They occupy the empty spaces that minerals have left behind.

Which explains why two people can experience the same environment...

yet respond completely differently.

This is also why simply trying to "detox" without rebuilding mineral status can sometimes make people feel worse.

The question isn't only:

"How do we remove toxins?"

It's also:

"Why did the body become vulnerable to holding onto them?"

My Biggest Shift As A Practitioner

Years ago, I believed my job was to interpret test results.

Now I know my role is much bigger than that.

Because no supplement can resolve chronic over-functioning.

No protocol heals perfectionism.

No mineral replaces healthy boundaries.

No diet changes subconscious survival patterns.

HTMA gives us data.

But healing happens when we combine that data with understanding.

That's why my work now integrates:

• Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis

• Clinical nutrition

• Personalised metabolic support

• Nervous system regulation

• Trauma-informed coaching

• Subconscious pattern work

* Hypnotherapy

Because I don't simply want to improve your pathology.

I want to improve your capacity.

Who Is HTMA For?

This test is for the woman who says:

"I know something isn't right."

It's for the woman who has tried the diets.

Taken the supplements.

Read the books.

Done all the right things.

Yet still feels like her body isn't responding.

It's for the woman who wants understanding...

not another generic protocol.

Because when you understand how your body has adapted...

everything changes.

My Philosophy

I don't believe the body is working against you.

I believe it has been responding intelligently to everything it has experienced.

Stress.

Nutrition.

Sleep.

Life.

Trauma.

Relationships.

Beliefs.

Environment.

Your body is constantly adapting.

HTMA helps us begin understanding how.

And once we understand the patterns...

we can begin supporting the body in a way that feels personalised, strategic and deeply compassionate.

Because true healing isn't about chasing symptoms.

It's about rebuilding resilience.

One layer at a time.

Most practitioners use HTMA to interpret minerals. I use it to understand the story your physiology has been telling about your life.
